take #2!!!!!! enter... the Chicken House!
yes,
so the mobile chicken shelter has barely held on against the elements of the northwestern winter. Everyday i go out to feed the hen (yes, we lost one hen to a vicious shepherd dog that runs the place which leaves us with only one, named Jon Bonham... R.I.P. Twinkies!...) and she looks up at me with eyes like, "seriously, you expect me to lay MY precious eggs in THIS thing?!"
That said, we are moving forward in partnership, with our landlords who have developed their own interest in fresh eggs, on a new project for a chicken house. The idea is to have one central housing unit with a netted area surrounding it for the chickens to scratch around the yard without coming under siege of the landlord's curious puppy who still hasn't learned to play gently with living things! ;)
A picture for now with more to follow!....
