Let's try this again!... and other stuff.

First of all, we have new chickens; two Rhode Island Reds. They are about a year old and laying. A bit more shy than our original chix were, although, those were Delawares which I heard were a little more relaxed then Reds. Alas, this time around the Reds were all that were available from my chicken guy (Harley Soltes in Kingston).
some pics...

right outa the oven! was still warm when i snatched it!

guess which one is from our chicken!

Secondly, I have decided to turn our old clothes into rag rugs, starting with my old uniforms....
First one will be white and black and will go by the tub in the bathroom.
apologies for the blurrsss.....

sun.... finally.

Here is a video of Antoinette doing "kettle bell" swings with a burlap rice sack. This was after she ran her butt off outside for a while so....    :)

Side note, and lastly, a pic of our seedlings also enjoying the spring sun. :)

Peace!

take #2!!!!!! enter... the Chicken House!

yes,
so the mobile chicken shelter has barely held on against the elements of the northwestern winter. Everyday i go out to feed the hen (yes, we lost one hen to a vicious shepherd dog that runs the place which leaves us with only one, named Jon Bonham... R.I.P. Twinkies!...) and she looks up at me with eyes like, "seriously, you expect me to lay MY precious eggs in THIS thing?!"

That said, we are moving forward in partnership, with our landlords who have developed their own interest in fresh eggs, on a new project for a chicken house. The idea is to have one central housing unit with a netted area surrounding it for the chickens to scratch around the yard without coming under siege of the landlord's curious puppy who still hasn't learned to play gently with living things! ;)

A picture for now with more to follow!....
